Dr Iida-Maria Tammi is a Research Fellow at the Centre for Humanitarian Action (CHA). She leads the CHA research project on Climate Change and Humanitarian Change and works on a project entitled “Humanitarian Climate Politics: Practical and Ethical Implications of the Changing Policy Landscape”. Iida’s research interests include anticipatory action, resilience, humanitarian governance, and agency in contemporary aid provision.
Prior to joining CHA, Iida was a Doctoral Researcher at the University of Helsinki. In her doctoral research project, she analysed the causes and effects of humanitarian insecurity in conflict-affected areas. In October 2023, she successfully defended her thesis. In addition to her academic experience, Iida has worked for the Finnish Ministry for Foreign Affairs and the United Nations Regional Centre for Peace, Disarmament and Development in Latin America and the Caribbean (UNLIREC).
Iida has fieldwork experience from countries such as India, Turkey, and Caribbean island states. She speaks fluent English, Finnish, and Spanish, and a little German.
The “Humanitarian Climate Politics” project is funded by the Alfred Kordelin Foundation, and it will take place between 2024-2025.
