The brainstorming session on “EU financing solutions for Crises and Fragility settings” held in July constituted a first step towards bridging the gap in funding solutions for populations living in crisis situations and fragile contexts.
However, the need for concrete, solution-oriented institutional approaches remains, especially in view of the start of the new legislature and the preparation of the next multiannual financial framework, which will be one of its cornerstones. This raises the question whether Europe will develop an agenda that remains aligned with its core values while also serving its own interests.

To provide tangible elements to address this situation, the Centre for Humanitarian Action, the Egmont Institute and the Norwegian Refugee Council organised a follow-up roundtable focusing on the following crucial questions:
• What should we expect from the Commission in balancing the principle of solidarity and foreign aid interests regarding the future institutional and programmatic set up?
• What should we expect from the Commission in addressing fragility issues until the next Multiannual Financial Framework?
• What instruments should be included in the next financial framework to better address fragility issues?

Participation was by invitation only.
