As Forum Partner of the Human Rights Film Festival, CHA is showing the film THE LAST SHELTER:
In Mali, the city of Gao has for years provided a peaceful haven for people who have left their homeland for years. Here, on the edge of the Sahel desert, stands the House of Migrants, which provides a temporary home for thousands of people every year. It houses those who hope for a better life in Europe, are down on their luck or are on their way back to their homeland. The film paints an emotional portrait of the city, its generous inhabitants and tells of the hopes, dreams and fates of the people who are stranded there.
The film will be followed by a panel discussion moderated by Sonja Hövelmann, research fellow at CHA.
