Climate change will shake the humanitarian sector to its foundations. Changes are needed: in the way humanitarian organisations plan and implement their operations, in the principles that provide the normative framework for action, and in the mandate that determines the scope of intervention in respect of the fate of people affected by crises. “Skilling-up”, “scaling-up” and “futuring-up” are possible ways for humanitarians to meet the enormous challenges – explains CHA Research Fellow Andrea Steinke in her contribution to the current issue of Wissenschaft & Frieden on the climate crisis.
