Russia’s war of aggression on Ukraine is another shock to the global food system, however it is not the cause of the current global food crisis, Ralf Südhoff and Berit Reich argue in their article “Crisis without War”, now published in the magazine of the Deutsche Gesellschaft für die Vereinten Nationen.
In their article, the authors identify structural weaknesses in the global food system and explain how conflicts, high food prices and the impacts of climate change create a structurally fragile, inequitable world food system that needs to focus more on food sovereignty.
