In January 2023 CHA director Ralf Südhoff had been appointed as an expert for a public hearing of the Federal German Parliament and its Committee on Human Rights and Humanitarian Aid, discussing the German government’s latest report on its humanitarian assistance from 2018 to 2021. Prior to the hearing, Sonja Hövelmann and Ralf Südhoff published a statement on Germany’s role in the humanitarian system, the status of the Grand Bargain, international organisations and local actors, and the growing food insecurity.
